I don’t know where this year has gone….here we are in December, and more Christmas music is on the mind!

The term “Xmas” dates back to the 1500s
Contrary to popular belief, “Xmas” is not a trendy attempt to take Christ out of Christmas.
According to From Adam’s Apple to Xmas: An Essential Vocabulary Guide for the Politically Correct, “Christianity” was spelled “Xianity” as far back as 1100. X, or Chi, is the Greek first letter of “Christ” and served as a symbolic stand-in at the time.
In 1551, the holiday was commonly called “Xtemmas,” which was later shortened to “Xmas.”

I wanted to create a collection of traditional Christmas music using various synthesizer voices. It was fun and satisfying to hear violin, cello, brass, or bells while playing keys. Hope you enjoy!

About the Author, Composer, Illustrator,
Educator, and Eternal Optimist
Leslie Young is the author/composer/illustrator of the Revolutionary Piano Method. She co-founded a K-12th grade charter school in Texas and has been a piano teacher for about 40 years. She has had experience teaching a variety of students tackling piano for the first time or as returning students.
